Update on Olivia and A Messy Project

We are so excited that Olivia is now home and on the road to recovery! PTL
Thanks again for all your prayers on her behalf!

She's in her wheelchair getting ready to leave her room with assistance from a worker.

Getting ready to enter the car.   She couldn't wait to get back home.

On another note......Here's the beginning of a mess, of sorts.

Can you guess what it is yet?

We've had several hail storms in the last two years and they damaged our roof.   It was time to replace it.
It was a beautiful day when they started on Wed.    Rain came on Thurs. so no work.

Today is another blue sky day and they're baaaaaack....with all the pounding to go with it.   lol

They have another day or two before it's all completed but it will be worth it.

What's been happening in your neck of the woods?
Have a great weekend!     Till next time!

A Little Love in the Kitchen

I set a table in the kitchen for Valentine's Day using white plates and polka dot dishes. I have a lot of red in my kitchen so this tablescape fits right in.

What would Valentine's Day be without hearts and chocolate!

Pretty heart napkins from HG.
Polka dot dishes are also from HG.
Beaded coasters from Ceekay in AZ.

I used this heart shape dish for my centerpiece.

I filled it with hand made paper Chinese fortune cookies.

I used a few different pieces of craft paper and put different sayings in them.

After I glued them I used paper clips to hold them together till they dried.

Thanks for stopping by! Please let me know you stopped so I can return the visit.
Happy Valentine's Day!

Sweet Olivia

Thanks to all of you for keeping Olivia in your prayers! It means so much to know others are praying with you in times of crisis.
Olivia went for a ride in a wheel chair yesterday. In the afternoon she had a little set back and was given morphine again for pain.
Late evening she ate some and took a few steps.

With the three hour time difference I have not gotten a further update this morning!

Our daughter Andrea and Olivia.
I was e-mailed the pictures of the tumor and it's unbelievable that it was inside this small child.
Teratoma is the Greek word for Monster tumor. They are usually benign. We haven't heard any further news from pathology dept.
Thanks again for all your prayers. As Psalm 46:1 says, God is our refuge and
strength, a very present help in trouble.

Update

Thanks to all of you sweet people who prayed for Olivia. The surgery went well and she is in a room. Still on morphine and resting.
The Teratoma tumor was quite large and had overtaken the ovary. Unfortunately, the ovary could not be saved. It had already twisted her fallopian tube but they were able to straighten it and save that.

We are so thankful for the surgeon's skill and the excellent care she is receiving at a children's hosp. in CA.
They are, of course, sending the tumor to be evaluated.

She is very weak, as she has been unable to keep anything down since last Wed.

We are praying for her strength to return and a full recovery.

Thank you all for praying!

I'll update again in a day or so!

Prayer Request

Hi Everyone!
I just returned from a visit with my 86 yr. old mother in FL. She is doing well.
On another note, last night on our return, we got a call that our 8 yr. old granddaughter was in the hospital! She is having surgery today 11 a.m. Eastern time.
They are removing a sizable Teratoma tumor on her ovary. She has been in much pain and on morphine.
Please pray for Olivia and the team of pediatric doctors that will be doing the surgery and that her ovary might be spared and the tumor benign.
Thanks so much for your prayers!

We know she is in the Lord's hands, the Great Physician!

These are the last of my snowmen that I left out after Christmas. Thought I'd post the last of them before I do a Valentine theme. They will be packed away soon!
These little guys are in earth tones, very different than all the bright colors in the kitchen area.

The sun is starting to go down and casting a glow in the room. I got the lanterns at Old Time Pottery this year.

Such a sweet faces!

Here's the biggest fellow of them all. He is a large gourd. Light as a feather and hand painted.
You can still hear some dried seeds in him if you give him a shake, I mean squeeze. lol
He's got his winter toboggan and scarf on to keep him warm. Look at his poor spindly arms. He should try lifting some weights! lol
Hope you're having a great week, so far! Thanks for stopping! Till next time!

Master Bedroom

We had a loveseat made for our master bedroom sitting area a few years back. Went to NC furniture "row" and searched store to store to find the best deal. We finally found one that was right for the room and picked out a fabric. When it was delivered wks. later, the deliver men handed me a pile of fabric. They said it was excess fabric. It measured to 9...yes 9 yds!
I quickly called the manufacturer and told them I could understand miscalculating a few yds. but not 9. They agreed and refunded a chunk of money and told me to keep the fabric. I could live with that! (I had already offered to send it back.)
Anyhoo, I made pillow shams and a long body pillow for the foot of the bed and still had lots left over. I was happy that these items blended the sitting area and bed area together but I hated the plain bed skirt that was on the bed. See the skirting?
It blended in too much with the Matalesse cover and carpeting.

I stay so busy with a home-run business, company galore, life in general...you all know the drill! lol
I have to plan a time to drag out the sewing machine and stick with a project without interruptions.
That day came Thurs. when hubby got up at 4 am. to take a veteran to the VA hospital an hour and a half away. (This Vet desperately needs a kidney transplant. Please pray for him if you think of it)
I grabbed the chance to ignore the phone and sew all day.
This is the results of my labors....a new bed skirt.
What a difference it makes it the room..... Major! I'm a color girl (not cover girl lol) and love using color in decorating.

I teach a decorating class at our church and tell my students to use three to five patterns in a room as long as they blend and compliment each other. That can include the pattern in the furniture, drapes, pillows, and an an area rug.
Here's a pic of the room finally put back together.

Oh, you can see our wedding picture through the mirror. Did you catch it? That's as close as I'm going to let you get to it. lol
This is an angle from the door viewing the sitting area.

With all the company we have, this room is an oasis to us. If guests want to be downstairs later than we do or they want to watch something different on TV, stay up latter than us, we retreat to "Our Retreat".

Yes, that is a frig. and microwave in the corner. Great for hot tea, etc. at night, a cold bottle of water or snack. We stash some goodies in the side door of the entertainment cabinet, too. They come in handy when Ceekay , my sister, my girls, my grand kids, etc. are visiting and watching TV in here. The guys are usually watching sports elsewhere.
I had to have a rocking chair on each floor when I rocked those grand babies.

Whew! Now that it's all done, I can put my feet up and relax a little till hubby gets home.
Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate each of you so much!
