Tick Tock

Have you ever counted the clocks in your house? We depend on them so much! I have one or two in every room. They help us get to events on time, tell us when to turn on the TV for a special show we want to watch, gets us up in the mornings and generally keeps us on a schedule.

Here's a few of mine....that's right.... these are not all the clocks in my house. lol

I just love when the time changes twice a year....NOT! lol When my aunt passed away, I inherited her coo coo clock from Germany.

This is on a tall shelf in our master bathroom. I depend on three clocks in there to keep me on schedule.

This is one in my office. I love to hear it ticking.

This sets on a small TV in my exercise room. The room has a nautical theme.

In a hallway upstairs.

I keep a clock in the guest bathrooms. To keep the guests on time. lol

I even have one outside. It has saved many a trips back indoors while I'm dirty from working outside.

Chinese Cookie Tutorial

On my last post I featured these little paper Chinese Cookies that I made for a tablescape.

Some of you asked how to do them and some said they were already going to try them. I thought I'd share how I did mine.

I did several in two designs.

Use squares of paper used for scrap booking.

I used the white dish to trace 4 circles, one at each corner and the smaller coaster to trace a center circle. I got 5 circles from one sheet.

You have to use a little tacky glue or hot glue to make them stick together where you fold them.

I held them together with a paper clip so I could do more than one at a time till they dried.

While they were drying I typed some messages and printed them out.

I hope this wasn't too confusing. Go to the second site I listed and get better instructions.

Have a great weekend!

Valentine's Day

I'm joining Susan @Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday. Be sure to visit her wonderful blog and see many other tablescapes.

It's February and we all know what that means.....Valentine's Day! So in honor of the "Love Day" I put together this red & white tablescape in my kitchen.

The only thing that is new is the centerpiece heart box and the napkins. I had all the other dishes, chargers, etc.

White plates are Jaclyn Smith collection.

Polka Dot plates from HG.
You have to have something chocolate on Valentine's Day. I added the chocolate hearts on the plates.

Cute heart napkins from Home Goods this year.

Napkin rings from Old Time Pottery.

Heart Shape plate from HG.

I found this heart shape container at HG a couple of weeks ago. I knew it would go perfect with the polka dot plates.

It has a little heart knob on the lid.

I filled it with Valentine Chinese cookies. I bet you didn't know they had such things. (smile)

It took a few tries to master them but then they were easy.

Just type the message you want to slip inside and print them out.

I love these beaded coasters that Ceekay @Thinkin' of Home sent me from AZ.

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit. I appreciate all of you!
Have a great week and if you're in the states that got the latest storm...stay safe and warm!

Tabletop Tuesday

I thought I'd post the last of my snowmen before I packed them away. These big guys are on the sofa table behind my couch in the family room. I always put these little snow letters I painted in front of them.

I love this big guy, who is a gourd by the way. He's so jolly looking and all decked out in his winter scarf and hat. Look at those arms? He probably needs to work out at the local gym and buff them up a bit. lol

This guy was a present a few years ago from my best friend Ceekay @ Thinkin' of Home

Comfort Food

I saw this recipe in a magazine the other day and thought I would try it for company we were going to have over on the weekend.

I have not made this custard before but knowing it was a Paula Deen family favorite, I knew it would be good. Semi-sweet chocolate chips in a bowl. Always yummy!

Heavy whipping cream and milk in a kettle. Bring to a low boil. Pour over the chocolate.

Beat 4 egg yolks, salt and sugar together. Blend into the chocolate mixture.

Pour into six ramekins and place in a casserole dish. Fill with hot water till half way up the ramekins. Cover the pan with foil and make little pin holes all over to vent.

The finished product is so yummy!
You can take a cup of heavy whipping cream and 5 Tbs. of butterscotch or--- I used caramel ice cream topping--and beat together with beaters till thickened.
The custard is not too rich or too heavy.
I forgot to take pic of the custard with the topping but you can see it on the magazine page above.

You can see more details of the recipe if you click on the magazine pic above.

Snowmen

After Christmas I like to leave my snowmen out for another month or so, after all it's still winter and they make me smile.
I put the snowmen on the shelves where Christmas items have been.
I've always thought this couple was so cute in their red plaid outfits. I set them on the pass-through between the kitchen and family room.

Snow tipped pine cones in an apothecary jar and cute checked napkins with pine cone napkin rings.

I love this snowman rug by the back door. He looks so jolly.

I put this big snowman head, that I painted many years ago, on the kitchen counter.

A couple more in the kitchen.

Do any of you still have snowmen out?
Hope your week is off to a great start! Thanks for taking the time to stop by!
