Pancake Breakfast

I decided to make a wonderful pancake recipe that we were served at a B&B in NC a few years ago. I'll explain more on that a little later in the post. Anyway, I thought I'd do a little "Islandscape" and join Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday. I'm seeing spots, are you?

Just a fun little breakfast for the two of us!

We usually sit at the island for breakfast and look out this window for the entertainment that our little birdies give us. The other day we saw, for the first time, Goldfinches at our finch feeder. (click to enlarge) There were six at one time but by the time I got the camera a few had flown away.

Sometimes we see these big guys and they scare away the little ones. lol Don't miss the Bluejay on the fence to the right. I didn't think I would enjoy watching the birds as much as I do but I really am hooked now.

Back to the breakfast......I thought I would share the recipe for the Multigrain Pancakes for those who might be interested. (It's at the end of post) These are the dry ingredients needed. You need corn meal, white flour, whole wheat flour, oats, baking powder and soda.

I store them in an air-tight container. You can then measure out a cup as needed. You will get many servings from this container.
Mix well.

The liquid ingredients plus brown sugar. Measurements are below.
Mix well.
Add dry ingredients and mix.
I recommend using this maple syrup combo on the pancakes. You won't be sorry! You need Maple syrup, vanilla, orange juice, and orange zest. Any other flavored syrup works as well. Heat till warm.

What's pancakes without warm, crisp bacon. Yum!I put nuts in the batter this morning because hubby loves them. You can add fruit, such as blueberries or stawberries if desired. They are wonderful just plain!

They will be more golden because of the whole wheat and brown sugar.

This recipe is from the Baird House Bed and Breakfast. Dee Dee is the owner and cook. She was asked by so many guests for her many wonderful recipes that she finally published a cookbook. Yeah for us!
I have used many of them and they are always a hit!

I'm joing Michael Lee @Designs by Gollum for Foodie Friday. Be sure to visit both of the blogs mentioned today but lots of inspiration. They both have lovely blogs!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and say hello. I appreciated each visit!

Hi there, Do you realize how much I look forward to your posts. BTW, we checked on Scott's 4 step program and oh my is it expensive! Oh well, it would be worth it to have a yard that looks like yours.
So glad you are enjoying the birds. When we first moved here I put out Niger seed for the finches and they loved it but here at our house now, last year I put out wild bird seed, and we had grackles kill and dismember the little birds-they are so territorial. This year I'll just be planting bushes to help feed them-I couldn't stand having so many dead birds on my lawn.
Hugs today.

I am so thrilled you dropped by because I am not doing Tab. Thurs this week and might have missed this ADORABLE table. Oh, how cute! Not only do I love the chickens, but those polka dot plates! That is some major cuteness.

I love birds, too. We have a fountain near the kitchen window, and I like to watch them bathe in the top bowl. We have everything from titmice to red birds, and they have a big time! We also get finches, too. They are darling.

Thanks for sharing your special spot with us. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

XO,

Sheila :-)

You know I always adore your tablescapes Rose, and this one is so pretty. We too enjoy looking out our breakfast room window at our bird feeder, and today we had our first humming bird to visit their feeder, I usually wait until I see one, but this year I went and prepared ahead. lol
The pancake recipe looks great I am going to copy it now. As always such a joy to visit.

I love a good multi-grain pancake. I saved both recipes in my favorites -- the syrup is a fun change-up on normal syrup. Joni

I haven't made multi-grain pancakes yet. They sound healthy and tasty!

I love to watch our birds, goldfinches in particular. I feed them thistle seed and they love it. Best part is it doesn't sprout when it falls on the ground.

Happy Foodie Friday,

What a lovely home you have. Your back patio is so enticing as I am more than ready for spring and the warm weather to call us outdoors once again.

Polka dots are so happy and I love your red and white table! It would be so nice if we were enjoying warm weather and the grass and flowers were growing. I loved being in NC and seeing all those gorgeous colors. The pancakes sound good. I like a buckwheat mix- no one else in our extended family likes anything but buttermilk. But I will try the syrup! yummers....

I woke up this Easter morning and went to your post first thing. I looked at all your post. You have a lovely home and so enjoyed seeing them all. Love the polka dot dishes. Your husband is a keeper. My dogs looked for our bunny that comes every year to see them. No bunny I hope he is alright. My birdies that nest here every year are just little sparrows but fun to watch them. Happy Easter.
