He Did It---The National Anthem

Remember the post a few days ago when I mentioned hubby was going to sing the National Anthem at our Baseball stadium? Well, HE DID IT and did great! I'm so proud of him. The crowd seemed enthusiastic and pleased as well. He has never sung for that many people before and I'm sure he was a little nervous.
Here's my cameras all charged and ready to go. Had to do my check list, you know. Cameras, tickets, hanky etc.
One quick picture before we left.
At the stadium being told when to enter the field.

Waiting to start while the Color Guards entered the field with their flags and being introduced as an Army Veteran during the Viet Nam War.

Singing the National Anthem.
Waiting, out of respect, for the Color Guard to exit the field.

His own exit from the field. Yeh, Honey you did great!

Afterwards meeting the Manager of the Drive baseall team and the owner of the team.

Of course, I had to add a picture of Jonas, our three year old grandson who sang the whole song through with Papa from the stands.

Some of you have asked if I could download the video of him. You can view it on the following you if care to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uz0uueQ5KM
Thanks for dropping by... I'll be by to see you too.

Metamorphosis Monday

I hope all of you had a safe and happy weekend. Susan at Between Naps on the Porch is hosting Metamorphosis Monday. Please pop over and see all the wonderful blogs listed there. A year ago our backyard was a fenced in yard with grass only. It was a fairly new house and builders don't do much in the backyards.

I began to ask Hubby to get some landscaping done, to add trees and flowers to the yard. He thought it would be too much work. "Let's just cut the grass and not bother with flower beds that we have to weed", he said. It took a couple of years and he finally caved to my begging. We started by killing the grass and sculpting out a design.

Putting in a drip system so he or I would not have to water the plants or trees.

We put in three trees. One white dogwood in the center and two Autumn Cherry Trees in the corners. We added evergreens, Encore Azaleas, Knockout Roses and other smaller plants with plenty of mulch and waited for them to grow.

This is how the backyard looks this summer. The trees are growing and plants are maturing.

We added lawn ornaments and a few more flowers.

We have enjoyed every hour spent out side and every view we get from all the windows facing the backyard. Hubby now wonders why we waited so long to do it. lol

I'll have to do another post on how we did the patio.

There's nothing like plants and their beautiful color to uplift your day.

Thanks so much for visiting. Please let me know you stopped by so I can get to know your blog.

Shoe Show

Feet, where would they be without shoes?

Baby shoes are usually our first pair of shoes. I have the ones that belonged to our two daughters.

These were my wedding shoes from 1970. That's a lot of years but I couldn't part with them.

I have so many pairs of shoes, when we move the movers chuckle at all the boxes. They probably think I a nut case or should I say "shoe case". They probably feel sorry for my hubby, thinking he doesn't get his fair share of the closet. They may be right.

I thought I would show only sandals today and to be honest.... this is not all of them. lol
(I get them when they are on clearance, though.) We have a Steinmart store near us and a few years ago my sister and I got several pair when they were 80% off.

I love those Impo sandals.

Here's where some of them live when not on my feet.

Or....some live up here. Notice all those pink sale and clearance stickers?

A big thanks to Nancy http://southernlady-nancy.blogspot.com/ for hosting the Shoe Show today and to you for taking time to drop by!

Have a safe and happy weekend!

Tablescape Thursday

A big thanks to Susan at http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ for hosting Tablescape Thursday. Please stop over to see all the lovely tablescapes. We had an evangelist over the other night for a fish dinner, hence my nautical tablescape.

I bought the dinner plates, tray and fish dishes at Home Goods on clearance. The silverware came from TJ Maxx.
I gathered all my sea shells and filled a glass vase for my centerpiece and set it on the tray with loose shells surrounding it.

I've had this cute little candle for years.

A cute little glass fish plate on a stand.

A white battenberg napkin with blue wood napkin ring.

I have a lot of little lighthouses and used them as name card holders and put a battery operated candle at each place setting.
A little three compartment dish that came from Home Goods, as well.

The fish dish.

I decorated the pass through island with some nautical things, too. A plate, buoy, ship, lighthouses and a little Ahoy sign that was given to me from Ceekay.

Thanks for visiting today. Don't forget to visit other tablescapes and get wonderful ideas.

Not Enough Hours in the Day

I was just thinking of how many things I have not posted about and things that are in the near future to post about and wondering when to fit them all in.

I decided to slip this one in before I do Tablescape Thursday and The Shoe Show on Friday. I will do a follow up on this post next week sometime, so stay tuned.

We have a fairly new stadium in our town. It hosts the farm team for the Boston Red Sox. I encouraged my hubby to go downtown when we heard there would be tryouts and he made it.

The new field, a replica of Fenway Park. The Dugout

I know... you were thinking....he's a bit old for that team...and you would be right....but the tryouts were for singing the National Anthem. Had you fooled didn't I??
Here he is with a manager at the stadium ready to do a trial run the other day.

He's coming back from the field with mic in his hand and a feeling of relief that it all will go well tomorrow night, the 23rd at 7:00 p.m.

He loves God, family, America and baseball! It will be a fun evening!

July 18, 2009

We started our anniversary day together sitting outside and enjoying the birds, flowers and backyard. Then we were off to a brunch at Mimi's Cafe.

Hubby had breakfast.

I opted for a salad. I thought their presentations were very nice and took pics.

The manager brought out this sampler of desserts for us. I was full from the salad and wanted to save room for our dinner later that night so just ate only a few bites.

We did a some shopping and went home for a little rest before going out to dinner.

Hubby had made reservations at Ruth Chris.

If you ever get a chance to go to one of these steak houses, you will not be disappointed! They are expensive but for a special occasion they are worth it and you will love it.
We are privileged to do marketing for both of these restaurants.

I took a pic of the salad, which is just wonderful. It got our of sequence and blogger would not let me move it so I deleted it. Are you guys running into this problem?
The steak is cooked at 1500 degrees and served on a plate with a temperature of 500 degrees. It is still sizzling and cooking when brought to the table.
They have many sides to choose from. We had creamed spinach and Au gratin potatoes.
I thought I had a pic but I guess I didn't.
The dessert they brought us was bread pudding. Very moist and delicious.

They take pics of you, if it's a special occasion and treat you like royalty. Well, I was with my prince after all.

Thanks so much for all the wonderful comments you left and the well wishes! Only 11 more years till the Golden.
