Faux Tin Ceiling

Nancy of ~Southern Lady~ is hosting Flaunt your Red today. Please take a look at all the wonderful posts.
I have something red in every room of my house but one. Love, love, love red. Don't worry, I'll only show you one room today. lol

I convinced Hubby to help me put a tin ceiling look in the tray ceiling of our bedroom. I had no idea what I was in for! WE had an 11 inch wide board balancing on the top rung of two ladders that was placed on either side of our bed. He being 6' 1" and I being 5' 1", made for a Lucy episode for sure. He had to stay in a bending position so I would be able to reach the ceiling on my side. He weighing 190 lbs. and I--well--weighing considerably less, caused a boucing effect as he was rubbing the wallpaper to adhere to the ceiling and nearly boucing me off the board. He said never again ! It turned out so good though that I've already started wooing him to do the dining room ceiling. I'll post it if it becomes a reality.

With the uplight on you can see more of the detail.
The finished product
The sitting room.

Have fun blogging and a safe weekend.

That is just absolutely beautiful! And what a good job you managed to do with it, despite the difference in heights!

The red ceiling is just fantastic. I am also "vertically challenged" and I can totally understand how difficult it is to reach. I hate to climb on ladders now because of a previous broken hip. I do not want another one of those! Thanks for leaving me such a sweet comment.

Hi Ro, I just love your master bedroom. The red tile is stunning and I am crazy about your ceiling. Simply gorgeous. I had to laugh at the Lucy episode it must have been so funny! I just love your sitting area too. The red touch is wonderful. I too, love a touch of red around the rooms. I don't have it in every room, but around. Your bedroom ceiling is designed like mine with the inset and frame style. I painted the sky in ours. I may have shown this in a past post.

Once again, pictures of your beautiful home, really inspire me. I want to go start decorating something. LOL!!

Have a great weekend!!
Hugs, Celestina Marie

Thanks for letting me know you had this post. I did one this morning as well, but it wouldn't show up on my own blog! Strange.

LOVE the ceiling. Love your bedroom. It looked so pretty before, BUT with the color on the ceiling it just really pulled everything together. Husbands are great, always saying, "Never again" and then they really do it if we really want them to.

My husband is doing great. A true miracle. He still has an open wound and a long way to having it closed but he's off the wound vac machine, off the IV antibiotics, both of which the doctors were saying he would be on for weeks, maybe months. God is so good. Thanks for your concern!!! Enjoy the weekend!

Hi again, to make your pictures larger you have to change your blog setting to minima stretch...Mary@DearLittle Red House has a tutorial on how to do this...I post from Windows Live Writer, which is a free download, and it allows me to enlarge my pictures to the size I want...sounds daunting but I just had to experiment a lot...(I just searched for Mary's tutorial and I haven't been able to find it)...

Absolutely beautiful! I so enjoyed looking at this tin-look, and had to smile too because we, dh and I, have done similar projects and I have heard the same words too.LOL. I am in agreement you do need to do the dining room, just tell your dh that we all thought he did such a great job that we would like to see the dining room.Thank you for sharing.Have a very blessed 4th of July.

I must apologize for not visiting sooner as I have been under the weather, but am feeling so much better.

Blessings,
Sue
