Master Bedroom

We had a loveseat made for our master bedroom sitting area a few years back. Went to NC furniture "row" and searched store to store to find the best deal. We finally found one that was right for the room and picked out a fabric. When it was delivered wks. later, the deliver men handed me a pile of fabric. They said it was excess fabric. It measured to 9...yes 9 yds!
I quickly called the manufacturer and told them I could understand miscalculating a few yds. but not 9. They agreed and refunded a chunk of money and told me to keep the fabric. I could live with that! (I had already offered to send it back.)
Anyhoo, I made pillow shams and a long body pillow for the foot of the bed and still had lots left over. I was happy that these items blended the sitting area and bed area together but I hated the plain bed skirt that was on the bed. See the skirting?
It blended in too much with the Matalesse cover and carpeting.

I stay so busy with a home-run business, company galore, life in general...you all know the drill! lol
I have to plan a time to drag out the sewing machine and stick with a project without interruptions.
That day came Thurs. when hubby got up at 4 am. to take a veteran to the VA hospital an hour and a half away. (This Vet desperately needs a kidney transplant. Please pray for him if you think of it)
I grabbed the chance to ignore the phone and sew all day.
This is the results of my labors....a new bed skirt.
What a difference it makes it the room..... Major! I'm a color girl (not cover girl lol) and love using color in decorating.

I teach a decorating class at our church and tell my students to use three to five patterns in a room as long as they blend and compliment each other. That can include the pattern in the furniture, drapes, pillows, and an an area rug.
Here's a pic of the room finally put back together.

Oh, you can see our wedding picture through the mirror. Did you catch it? That's as close as I'm going to let you get to it. lol
This is an angle from the door viewing the sitting area.

With all the company we have, this room is an oasis to us. If guests want to be downstairs later than we do or they want to watch something different on TV, stay up latter than us, we retreat to "Our Retreat".

Yes, that is a frig. and microwave in the corner. Great for hot tea, etc. at night, a cold bottle of water or snack. We stash some goodies in the side door of the entertainment cabinet, too. They come in handy when Ceekay , my sister, my girls, my grand kids, etc. are visiting and watching TV in here. The guys are usually watching sports elsewhere.
I had to have a rocking chair on each floor when I rocked those grand babies.

Whew! Now that it's all done, I can put my feet up and relax a little till hubby gets home.
Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate each of you so much!

OH MY GOODNESS...I LOVE IT ALL.
The bed skirt done in red sets it all off. Is that a bed pillow at the end of the bed or a quilt...
Love your cute sitting area. Everyone should have a frig in their bedroom.

Your bed skirt looks great. It warms up the room. You were a busy lady, and time to put up your fee too! Great room!

LOOOOOVE the new bedskirt - makes all the difference in the world. I can't believe they miscalculated that much fabric for your loveseat. Wow... that's pretty funny. Glad you called and got a partial refund.

Have a great weekend.

You are one talented lady! The bed skirt is beautiful. I hate all of my store bought bedskirts as they are too short, but since I'm not a seamstress I think I'm stuck with them.
You have created a wonderful retreat in your sitting area. I would say you have definitely earned time to relax and put up your feet. Hope your hubby has found time for that too. What a kind thing he has done for the vet.
As for your question regarding toasting pecans, I do it in a small skillet on the stove. I keep the heat just under medium and stir them often. It probably takes around 5 min., but the biggest tip I can offer is to keep your eye on them as they can burn quickly.

It turned out perfect. It really looks so much better with the color against the carpet!!

Your bedroom is beautiful! I love the mixture of fabrics. And you're right adding that bedskirt in the plaid is just what you needed! Looks like a beautiful retreat to have! I've often joked with my hubby that we need to have a secret refrigerator somewhere to stash his diet Pepsi that he loves to drink and the kids love to find! Hope you're having a nice weekend. I will remember this man in my prayers. So nice of your hubby to drive him! Take care!

Your bedroom is wonderful. I can see why it is such a retreat for you. You're right - the bedskirt that you made makes a huge difference! I'm a color (not cover - ha!) girl too. I think your bedroom may be laid out exactly like mine, but I think you've made a much better use of your space. I love that you have a fireplace in there. Is it electric or gas?

Beautiful bedskirt Rose! You are talented. The entire room looks so pretty.

I will certainly pray for him. I hope he finds one soon.

The jacket came from Dillards last Christmas. I got it for a gift. I'm not sure if they still have them. It's a nice one.

Have a blessed day sweet friend.

I've almost loved your sitting area Rose, as a matter of fact, I think I would just live up there especially when it is cold outside and I wanted a place to snuggle down, I see by your footsies on the stool that you are enjoying it too. ~smile~A beautiful job with the skirt, I know I am repeating myself but you are so gifted, and I know you enjoy sharing with those ladies, as they glean so much from you too.
I will be praying for this man.
Thanks for your visit and for your sweet words, yes, it is great for both of us to be feeling better.
Hugs,
Sue

Oh I love your room and the bedskirt turned out gorgeous. I too love mixing fabrics in the same color family even with different patterns. Odd numbers always work and so pleasing to the eye.
You sure deserved to put your tootsies up and relax. Lots of work, but so gorgeous. How wonderful to have that fabric, get a refund and then, get to keep it.
Love it all.
Hugs, Celestina Marie
