Kitchen Metamorphosis

It's been such a busy summer with 3 wks. of company, taking an anniversary trip and projects at home. One of which was to update the kitchen with granite counter tops.
This is the picture taken before the redo. Very functional but with counter tops that marked or stained easily. We've been in our house 9 yrs. and still love the white cabinets, so we knew they would be staying. We also kept all the backsplash of white ceramic tile.

All the drawers were removed and the mess began. lol

These guys were quick and efficient!

Before we knew it the old counters were out and the new ones brought in!

We chose a black sink by Blanco made of granite. They are heavier than normal and it had to be reinforced underneath. The color is all the way through and it is much more durable than porcelain or stainless. We just love it!

Without the table under the hanging lamp, hubby put a towel on it to remind people not to run into it.

We chose to go with a black island for contrast. We extended it by 4 inches and widened it by 6.

It all came together in two days and we're back in business! lol

We had the pass-through done as well.

A closeup of the counter.

I hope you enjoyed the tour. Thanks for taking the time! I appreciate all of you!

That looks great and I love my black granite sink, too. My first one was white porcelain and what a mess that was. This sink is indestructible. I know you are so excited to have that done.

Hi Rose, Our company is coming in a week, I know you have enjoyed yours.
Your kitchen re-do is absolutely beautiful. I have ceramic tile counter tops, and have wanted to change to granite, everyone who has granite loves it. I love the colors you have chosen.
Hope you are staying cool, we are still cooking here.
Hugs,
Sue

The new granite top looks wonderful, Rose! I think enlarging the area for the island was a very good idea- not only did you gain a bit more space, it visually enlarges the middle of the room. :-) Sue

Beautiful change! I love your choices. I have the black granite on our center island and hope to one day put granite around the rest of the counters and will also do a contrasting color. I think the two different granites you chose look fantastic together!

Hey Girlfriend,
I LOVE IT!! just a gorgeous redo. Your new granite is very similar to mine that we did in Feb.
Love it with your white cabinets and the black island looks gorgeous. Love your new sink too. I know it sure doesn't take long to do. 2 days tops for the counters. Our work actually took longer. LOL
You have a dream kitchen and I know you are going to really enjoy the granite. I am very happy we did ours. It is a joy to clean and always looks gorgeous.
Loved your pics. Should be in a magazine my friend.

We hit 106 degrees today and you can fry an egg on the sidewalk.
No end it sight!

Hello! I'm from SC, too. Your kitchen looks fabulous. The black sink is such a good idea. I've never had one, but I know what you mean about the porcelain ones. They don't look pretty very long.
