Fish Fry

It started with an all night of fishing for my hubby and some men from church. They were on Lake Jocasse in NC for 12 hours. It's about an hour and half from us and a gorgeous lake to fish or boat on. Hubby (on the right) loves to fish but had not done trout fishing before. He was so excited that he caught his limit and the biggest of the night.

When he arrived home, sleep deprived and still with the feeling of rocking, from being on a boat that long, (lol) he was ready to clean those babies and pose for pics.
They weighed in from 3 1/2 to 4 lbs.
We asked some friends to come over for a fish fry and fun!

Home made hush puppies frying in oil, compliments of our guest. She brought everything for them, including her cast iron skillet. They were so light and yummy!!

I did an ocean theme tablescape for the occassion.

Cute little plates from T.J. Maxx.

Sea shell salt and pepper shakers.

Little fish serving dishes.

I added sand and sea shells for a centerpiece.

Home made cole slaw.

The wonderful fish.

This was a new dish for us--Nassau grits. They were soooooo good! Not like regular grits at all.

We took an evening off of working outside and had some fun.
What's going on with you this week?
Thanks for visiting!!

Dinner in AZ

Good morning Everyone! I have to post early or I can't seem to get it all done.

This outside work is about to kill us. lol We are re-landscaping our front flower beds. More on that later.

I thought I would share one of the last evenings we spent in AZ with Ceekay.
We went to an incredibly good restaurant that had just opened in their area.

A French gentlemen and one from Germany are responsible for owning, cooking, etc. They know how to cook.

We chose an entree that they fondued at our table. The experience and flavor were WONDERFUL!!
They torched it a few times while the rice was cooking in a skillet under the beef. The beef was hanging on a cylinder that had many small spikes protruding from it to hold the beef. I can't tell you how tender it was!

I'm leaning as far away as I can--you know how flamable hair spray is! lol
Ceekay's hubby is sitting across from me while our spouses are snapping this pic.

Hereeeeeeeeeeees Ceekay--enjoying every bite!
They gave us 5 or 6 dipping sauces for the beef. All were very tasty. (Notice Ceekay's plate.)

The dessert was just as yummy!

When ceekay saw the waitress with this, she said "Come to Mama!"
A little bit of heaven!

All good things must come to an end and our stay was one of them.
Our daughter and grand daughters came from CA to see their Aunt Ceekay and take us back to their house for a visit.
Here we are in Ceekay's beautiful home after they arrived.

Thanks for making our stay so special Ceekay!!
Here's a sneak preview of what we've been up to.
These are the before pics.

What a mess with all that red clay but the end results will be worth it! Overgrown bushes knocked to the curb. lol

I hope your enjoying a beautiful week!

Last day in AZ

Hi Guys,

We've been super busy with landscaping redos, so I thought I would post some more about our AZ trip. Ceekay and her hubby found out about a new restaurant near them and we decided to try it. I can't even describe how great the food was.

A french gentlemen and another man from Germany, I believe, are responsible for the amazing food we had.

Here is the sign out front. It's near Phoenix if you're in that area. They fondued our entree at our table. The beef is hanging on a metal cylinder with little spikes protruding from it to hold the meat. There is a seasoned rice cooking underneath the meat.

He "torched" it several times and we watched it cook. Kinda of exciting, huh?

I'm backing as far away as I can. You know how flammable hair spray is!! lol

Carolyn's hubby is across from me while our spouses are snapping pictures.

Hereeeeees Ceekay! Enjoying every bite!

The plate in front of her has different flavored sauces to dip the meat in. They were all very tasty.

We couldn't stop talking about the entire experience of the wonderful food.

When Ceekay saw the waitress with this in her hands she said, "Oh Come to Mama!"

All good things must come to an end!

It was a great visit with her and her sweet hubby!

Our daughter and granddaughters drove from CA to see their Aunt Ceekay and take us back to her house.

Someone left the keys in the van and locked it??? Here we are waiting for the tow truck to get the keys out so we could be on our way.

This is Ceekay's beautiful house. She made our stay sooooo special!

Thanks Ceekay!!

Sprucing up the Bedroom

Remember this chair? It was in the exercise/catch -all room before hubby retired. I'll show you where I moved it in a minute. I had this hope chest at the foot of our bed for several years but decided to move it under the window in the exercise room and made a new cover for it.

I moved the chair in our sitting room adjoining our bedroom with the matching ottoman. I like it there so much better.
We have A LOT of out of town company and we use this as our little retreat.

We got a new settee for the foot of the bed at a store in NC. If any of you have had the pleasure of shopping in Hickory, Granite Falls, Hudson,NC etc.-- you know what I mean when I say you can really get the bargains there.
This Settee came from Hammary's. It is a division of Lazy Boy Company. You can find it there or at Macy's on line for about $1,200.
In Hudson, NC we paid $300.00. What a difference. Our niece just made a trip here from MI to purchase her bedroom, dining room furniture. It was worth the travel expense.

I've just been busy tweaking and nesting. I just love being a homemaker. What have you been up to?

I have two big projects starting tomorrow. We're redoing the landscape in our front yard. Hard work but looking forward to getting it done. It's not a huge area though.
I'll take pictures.
See ya soon!

New Living Room Tables

Hello out there! I was on a little break with a house full of company, if you can call that a break. lol I missed all of you.
I thought I'd share my new living room look with you today. I got new tables! The first pic is of the old ones. They were many years old and I knew I needed an updated look with larger end tables.
They came about in an unusual way and I must say it was a blessing. I think they look so much better and my good friend Ceekay said the room just popped into this decade. lol
I'm linking up with Marty @http://astrollthrulife.blogspot.com/ for Table Top Tuesday and Susan @http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ for Metamorphosis Monday.
I have old family photos in the small frames and a signed Precious Moment print from the Sam Butcher chapel.

My husband's parents are in the large oval frame and my parents in the small oval with my older brother and sister. In the rectangle one is a pic of my grandfather.

On the other table, in the largest frame, is the high school graduation picture of my Dad.
The two smaller ones are of his mother and his grandmother, my great-grandmother. I love old family photos. They mean so much to me and are a way to preserve our family history.

Be sure to stop over at Marty's and Susan's for some great posts.
