It's Been Busy

Thanks to all who commented on my Mom Cave! It really is a place I use every night. In fact, I'm sitting in here right now talking (typing) to you. lol

It's been a busy month, as I'm sure it's been for you. Many things were on the calendar. We had a banquet to go to that benefits a free medical clinic in our area. All the medical personnel offer their services free of charge and there are many, many volunteers that work there. It was held at a local university. Here are a few pictures.

The guest speaker was Governor Mike Huckabee. We had the opportunity to meet him at the private reception before dinner.

He gave an excellent speech on service to others! Great reminder for all of us to help the less fortunate.

He's quite humorous, too.

Last Thursday night we had the opportunity to former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich.

He gave a motivating speech for us to exercise our right to vote at the polls on Nov. 2.

Radio personality and Fox News contributor, Mike Gallagher was also there. He actually started is career here.

I just finished teaching my decorating class for the ladies at church. It's always a privilege to help them in some small way with what limited knowledge I have.
The class is for young married ladies that covers 12 wks. with a different topic each week. The classes cover cooking, cleaning, time management, finances, personal care, decorating, entertaining, etc. The girls have a hunger to learn and are joy to work with.
We call it W.I.S.E. Builders. It stands for Women of Integrity, strength, & efficiency.

I gave them all a pumpkin to take home with a cute little saying attached.

You can click to enlarge the saying.

A few of you asked how my chandelier hanging in the foyer was on a timer.

We purchased this gadget at Lowe's and installed it in the light switch, then set the time we wanted it on and time to go off.

Thanks for stopping! I appreciate all of you!
Till next time...............

Those timers are great! There was one installed to control my garage coach lights when we moved in the house 11 years ago. At our old house, I'd turn on the porch/garage lights at night, then forget to turn them off before I went to bed. Sometimes, they stayed on all the next day into the night, again!
Looks as if you've been a busy gal. It's always nice to actually meet someone you admire.

Neat gadget! You are one of the busiest ladies I know, always doing fun and worthwhile things! Teaching the WISE class sounds like something I would have enjoyed when I was younger!

Pretty soon, you will need a new room to display all those celebrity pictures in! Lucky you (and Tom) to get to meet so many of those nice people!

Hi Rose! Oh, look at you, pretty as a picture, meeting all of these most famous ones!
Glad your decorating class at your church has gone well. I love your name and the little logo! Love your chandy and how wonderful to have it on a timer! :)
Thanks for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

That's nice of you to help the ladies out with your decorating knowledge, I bet they learned a lot. I like the timer idea on the chandy. I will have to run that past my dh.

Love the place where you had the banquet. Looks so beautiful! And what an honor to meet both those men! I love your bedroom and the little sitting area. I remember you saying once before you had a little refrigerator up there and I keep telling my husband we need to get something like that to "hide" his soda the the kids are always getting into, not to mention his favorite Reeces peanut butter cups.

Beautiful decorating! Would love to go to one of your classes!

You are such a busy lady, but a "good busy!" It's wonderful that you share your talent with those young(er) ladies!

Thanks for being so loyal to me as a Follower! I've lost a lot of comments from people who used to leave them often. These health issues are taking up so much of my time. Still no decisions from doctors yet. Went to the 4th doctor yesterday, more blood tests coming up. I'm very weary of it all.

I've been doing a lot of "encore" posts, but did do a new tablescape tonight! Come see!

Hello to Tom, as well!

That was some high powered company you were in - sounds great! My brother is the Chief of Staff for the new senator from Oklahoma - a young Christian guy who blew the opposition out of the water in a surprise victory. Awesome.
