Mom Cave Challenge

Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch is sponsoring a giveaway. The grand prize is $250.00 gift certificate from Home Goods.

Just post your Mom Cave space and three independent judges will view them and pick the winner.
The judges are: Maree--Tales from an O C Cottage, Linda Merrill-- Interior Designer and
Mark Ballard-- Artist, designer, decorator.

I went to Home Good and did some picture shopping. I could always use wall art,

Or--a new rug somewhere---

Bedding is another option. They have so much to choose from.

My Mom Cave is the sitting room in our Master Bedroom. I truly use this space everyday. My sister is visiting from MI this week and we go there to watch a movie, have a snack, check the weather, read a magazine and after a long day of shopping, take a tray of food to sit, prop up our feet and chill.
Our bed, settee, and furniture is on one side.

Sitting area on the other side of the room. With all the company I have in my home it is a retreat to go to for "me" time.

An antique rocking chair to rock the grandbabies when they are over or another chair when my daughters or nieces are visiting and the guys want the big TV for sports.
I keep my lap top on the lower shelf of the end table. Easy access to pick up and blogwith.
Hubby and I did a faux tin look in the tray ceiling.

We used this old TV and Record cabinet for a TV and snack station.

We added a small refrigerator for drinks and snacks. Saves a lot of trips up and down the stairs. lol

Inside the cabinet we stuck a microwave for soups, hot drinks, or popcorn for those movie nights.

Plastic ware is the way to go for this snack corner.

Baskets makes it look a little nicer through the glass doors.
I hope you enjoyed taking a peek at my Mom Cave! Thanks for taking the time to stop by.
Be sure to visit Susan for many more Mom Caves.

More Mackinac Island Pictures

Here it is Oct. and I never posted Part II of our Mackinac Island trip this summer. I actually was waiting for my dear brother-in-law to send me the disc with these pictures on it.
He's a busy Dr. and it took him some time to get to it. Now mind you, he would not have had to do this if my husband had charged our camera battery the night before, as I had asked him to do. ---But that's another story. lol
Here we are sitting on the 660 ft. long front porch of the Grand Hotel. It is purportedly the longest in the world. The hotel was built in the late 19th century.

Famous guests such as, Mark Twain, Thomas Edison , US Presidents and many movie actors have stayed there.

The classic movie "Somewhere in Time" with Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour was made there.

Beautifully set on Lake Huron in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

The Island is beautifully maintained. No cars are allowed on the Island. You get around by carriage, horse back or bicycle. It is too gorgeous to put into words!

We are standing at an entrance to the hotel grounds right before we went in to have lunch.

This is a view from the porch overlooking the water.

The entrance where the carriages drop you off.

There are wonderful shops and restaurants in the hotel.

We were getting ready to leave and go into the town to shop.

This is one of the lobbies.

If you ever get a chance to visit this Island, you will not be disappointed. They close everything down in the winter months because the lakes freeze over. They have a minumum amount of maintaince people who stay for the winter and use snowmobiles to get to the mainland. Most residents are there for summer months only.
Thanks for your visit today. I love hearing from you and will be making my rounds to you soon!

Decked Out for Fall

I hadn't shown our front yard since we decorated for the Fall. Thought today was as good a day as any.
Here's a pumpkin on a stick that I painted many years ago. He has this tree of honor every year. lol The front has been decorated since Sept. and I hadn't taken any good pictures til now. The grass is starting to turn a little. Our trees are still green though.
A little metal pumpkin adorns the flower bed.

A basket of pumpkins flowers and a pumpkin swag decorates the front door. I got the pumpkin mat a few years ago.

Hubby just planted a few pansies and took this pic.

A cute little pumpkin bird house is hanging near the front walk.

My Cracker Barrel rocking chair covers. I love the seasonal covers that they sell.

My big metal pumpkins from Kirkland sit on the front porch.

We added a few Fall ornaments to the backyard along the fence. That happy pumpkin makes me smile every morning when I open the kitchen blinds.

The butterflies are all over this bush.

Hubby loves his Fall mums and set two out by his barbecue.

They are so pretty. I'll be sad when the first frost hits them.

Thanks for taking time to visit. I love hearing from each of you!

I hope you're enjoying your Fall!
