Trunks are easy to decorate with, without breaking the bank. You can pick them up at many different stores now days.
I'll show you a few ways that I have used them around our house. Does anyone care to share how they have used them? I would love to see your ideas.
This is in our family room with several trunks sitting on the top.
This is an old travel trunk probably used to go overseas. It is on wheels, has different compartments and is dated 1880. (I posted this trunk in the past) It sits in the foyer area.
A small trunk sits by a couch in our family room and stores toys for our grandchildren. It's like a treasure chest to them.
This is a small one the table in the front foyer.
This is not exactly a trunk but is used for storage and decorating. My hubby gave this to me when I was still in high school. I started storing household items in it. (planning for that wedding day) I could never seem to part with it and it has been in all 7 homes we have lived in. I made a seat cushion to cover the top that is slightly damaged and for comfort. It sits at the end of our bed.
Thanks for visiting, I hope you all have a great week!

Don't you ever part with that trunk! How special!! I love trunks too and have one similar to your 1800's one. I'm not currently using it because where yours is black it is a muted turquois. It is really pretty but does not go with a thing in our house. I have it in the attic just in case I find that perfect spot! :)
Oh, I just really enjoyed looking at all your beautiful trunks! You know how to decorate with them, that's for sure! Your home is very beautiful, too! I wanna see more! I do have an old steamer trunk(probably early 1900s) in our bedroom and I keep extra bed linens in it. It's not a real pretty one, but my uncle sent it to me in probably 1973 and I won't part with it. Oh, thanks for coming to see me. I was so thrilled with all my little gifts.

Okay.... now this is just plain spooky!! The entertainment center in your family room is just like the one in ours!! and the cedarchest at the foot of your bed is just like the one my parents gave me just before I got married!!! WHERE ARE YOU?? YOU GOTTA BE CLOSE!!!
I have an old trunk that belonged to my grandmother that is 100 yrs old, my mother gave it to me on my 40th birthday... I have been trying to figure out how to make it better!!! Email me!!
I love those, now that is a collection worth collecting...pretty and functional! :)
Beautiful trunks! The one your husband gave you is so sweet :)

Love your trunks. The one at the end of your bed is what we called Hope Chests in old days. I never did have a regular hope chest, but I had an old trunk that I kept stuff in. After I got married I stored my wedding gown in it. Big mistake. When I looked at it a few years later, it had turned yellow. So sad.
