The Little Box

I have a little dilemma and wanted your advice on what to do.

I painted this little box for my hubby many years ago. It sat on top of his dresser where he could deposit everything out of his pockets at the end of the day. ( Don't worry, I had a piece of glass cut to fit over the painting. ) Anyway, back to the dilemma, our furniture was Oak way back then and now it is Cherry.
Do you think I ought to paint or stain the box or just leave it as is and put it somewhere else as an accent piece? Let me know what you all think, ok? Thanks a bunch!

Well, you know my thoughts...however, again, I don't worry so much about mixing the woods. I still think you should try that new Gel stain. That way you wouldn't have to strip it! Cover the painting though!!!!

Another pretty painting! How do you think it would look painted black? I can see that, but wondering if it would be too dark on the cherry. I love black accent pieces.

Let us know what you decide!

I like the idea of painting it black and maybe sand paper the edges.

Your painted box is gorgeous. It looks great just the way it is, but if you really need a change, I would paint it black with distressed edges and then varnish with a water base sealer. A touch of black is gorgeous with any shade of wood. I used to paint so many designs like this way back when. Love the design. What a talent you are. Just beautiful.

Afternoon! Oh, what a precious little box. I don't think it really matters if your wood tones don't match. But I gues if you want to do something different you could paint it a deep red. I just love red and every room needs just a touch! Thanks for coming to dinner with me today.

I think it is fine the way it is. Use it on that cherry chest.

I love mixing woods but I guess it depends on where you put it. I think it would look good as is on your cherry furniture.
