Metamorphosis Monday

I hope all of you had a safe and happy weekend. Susan at Between Naps on the Porch is hosting Metamorphosis Monday. Please pop over and see all the wonderful blogs listed there. A year ago our backyard was a fenced in yard with grass only. It was a fairly new house and builders don't do much in the backyards.

I began to ask Hubby to get some landscaping done, to add trees and flowers to the yard. He thought it would be too much work. "Let's just cut the grass and not bother with flower beds that we have to weed", he said. It took a couple of years and he finally caved to my begging. We started by killing the grass and sculpting out a design.

Putting in a drip system so he or I would not have to water the plants or trees.

We put in three trees. One white dogwood in the center and two Autumn Cherry Trees in the corners. We added evergreens, Encore Azaleas, Knockout Roses and other smaller plants with plenty of mulch and waited for them to grow.

This is how the backyard looks this summer. The trees are growing and plants are maturing.

We added lawn ornaments and a few more flowers.

We have enjoyed every hour spent out side and every view we get from all the windows facing the backyard. Hubby now wonders why we waited so long to do it. lol

I'll have to do another post on how we did the patio.

There's nothing like plants and their beautiful color to uplift your day.

Thanks so much for visiting. Please let me know you stopped by so I can get to know your blog.

It looks SOOO much better and more inviting now! Amazing what those touches of nature can do, huh? Why don't men see the wisdom in listening to us the first time around? You are going to enjoy this from now on!

Your yard looks so lush and green, and the trees and plantings really add a lot of interest to the view! I love your patio - is it stamped concrete?

Great job! 35 years ago, when my husband and I were first married, he didn't want anything but white walls .. and didn't want to hang anything on them. You should see them now! Your plantings are beautiful ... love the swing and furniture.

Beautiful landscaping transformation. Hopefully it isn't too hot and you can enjoy your backyard.

The backyard looks so much better. Lawn is great, but afterall, you have to look out that window and your eyes need something to see. I like the way you started with a few things the first year and can add more later as budget and energy allow.

Aren't husbands funny? Yours sounds just like mine. "I'll just have to mow around everything"
Now after 9 years of me putting in flower beds and trees he is as proud as punch when people compliment our yard. Silly men, don't they know we need to decorate the outside as well as the inside of our homes.

I love how your yard turned out.
