There is no place like home is hosting Show & Tell. Please stop over there and visit her wonderful blog.
I made a trip to FL at Christmas time to see my mother. She had a cedar chest that she recently inherited from her sister. I wanted to be sure to get some pics of things that were inside of it.
The first treasure I found was a Bible dated
pre-Civil War. It is in very good shape, considering it's age.
The print is very legible and readable.
This page has some one's own handwriting and is very clear.
This just shows that the print throughout the book is still readable.
This is another Bible that belonged to my Dad's mother. I could find no date anywhere in this Bible. It has family history it in and may have been given to her on her marriage.
This is one of the many quilts that my late grandmother made. My mother has two other ones made by her. Someday they will belong to me and my sister.
Thanks for taking a look at my show & tell. Have a happy week!

Oh be still my heart...a bible, dated before the civil war. Wow....I can't contain my enthusiasm. What a keepsake.
My show n tell is finally posted. It's not much this week, but it's something. LOL
What wonderful treasures! And the Bible that has writing in it, is amazing! I often write in my Bible as well never thinking that maybe years from now some relative of mine will read it! Thanks for sharing!!!
What a treasure. I hope they get passed on to future generations, not only for their worth as antiques, but also for all of the family information recorded in them.
wonderful treasures you have!
That Bible is a REAL Treasure! Thank you for sharing. Happy Show and Tell Day.
How wonderful finding the Bible! It's in such good shape for it's age! Lovely quilt too!
Be a sweetie,

Oh, what fun to get to go through a chest full of treasures! The pre-civil war Bible is amazing...how special to have that in your collection! :-)
That's great. I love the quilt. I have my grandmother's bible, it is very beat up and the cover is missing, but I treasure it. It is dated in the 1890s.
I have made many quilts that will go to my adult daughters and grandchildren. I have also made special ones they wanted just for them. I did not receive "heirlooms" from my family, as I never really knew them. So I was adamant that my daughters wouldn't have to say the same!

What a great idea. I lover how generations and generations kept the history alive with writing down the special events. I never thought about using the family Bibles for show and Tell. I'm going to run upstairs and see how far back ours go, I know they were at least from my great great grandparents.
