1. Sandals are my choice of footwear. I hate shoes just like Kathy does. It's a good thing I live in the south. We have a very long season for sandals or for going barefooted.

2. I have to put lotion on my feet every night before I go to bed. Gotta keep those feet looking good for those sandals.

3. I have never drank coffee.

4. As a rule I never drink soda or "pop" for you northeners.

5. I love anything dark chocolate. (They say it has health benefits).

6. I have to have 7 to 8 hrs. of sleep a night to function well. (Not to say I always get them but if not, I don't function as well.

"My Baby" is Having a BABY

We had a busy weekend, as usual .

Our youngest daughter's ( Sarah) friends asked if they could host a baby shower for her at my house. Of course, I said yes and it took place Sat. This was a small event, being her second pregnancy.

Miss Ivy Louise is due to make her entrance into this world on Halloween. I tell everyone Sarah is having a little goblin. She says as long as she's not a little witch it will be ok. (smile)

Sarah giving us a side view of that baby bump and view of the table. She is all baby. She never gains excess weight. I don't know how she does it--I've seen her eat. (smile) Sarah opening the gift that Aunt Ceekay sent her from AZ.

It was cute the way they had each gift giver sit next to Sarah while she opened their gift. (Ceekay could not be on the chair, as she was in AZ.) Then they had to give her some words of wisdom concerning child rearing.

The girls giving the shower made up little cards( that were business card size) with a different Bible verse on each one, Sarah & Ivy's name, and the due date on them. They also made cute little magnets so you could put the card on the frig to remember to pray for Sarah and Ivy. I thought it was a cute idea.

At the end several ladies prayed for a safe delivery and healthy baby. It was a sweet time together.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like.....Fall

The decorating is done. Whew, it's not as much as Christmas but it is a job. I wanted to get all of it done now because I'm having a baby shower here tomorrow.

We, also, have a few things planned that will take us in and out of town in the next month and I wanted to enjoy it while we were here.

I'll do a few pics at a time on the blog until I show them all.

I did a small Fall tree with pumpkins, picks, and ribbon on it. Ceekay and I saw this last Fall when she was visiting and we were out shopping. We both decided to replicate it. It's easy to take the Fall picks out and redo the tree for Christmas. Click on picture to enlarge.

I put lights on it and it's real cute at night.

I put a large basket full of Fall flowers on the top of the stairway on the landing before you continue up the stairs.

Grandchildren-What a Gift

Sunday was grandparents day. Hubby, and I didn't even realize it until we received a phone call Sun. afternoon and then got an E-card from Hallmark with a Gift Wish attached. That is why I'm posting about my sweet granddaughters today.

Our daughter and family recently moved to CA for her husband to be a church planting pastor. They have had their children in a Christian school in the past but in CA the tuition is unbelievably high. In lieu of that they decided to home school, at least for the first year. Andrea has her education degree, which of course is very helpful. She never thought she would be teaching her own girls but this is what the Lord has for them now.

She has set up a spare bedroom in their home for their school room. They have two regular school desks, computer, map and activity table, to name a few things.

Here is our 8 yr. old granddaughter Emma. She is in 3rd grade this year. Here is Olivia at her desk. She is K-5 this year.
Andrea has tried to make the room look as much like a school room as she could. They have only been in CA about 6 wks. and had so much to do since they arrived. I think she has a done a great job so far and we are proud of the job she is doing with the girls.

The girls were so excited to have Mom for their teacher. Let's hope it stays that way. (smile)
We get to see all of this in person in less than a month . We should arrive back in time for the new baby to arrive here at home. Busy, busy times but memory making times!

Miscellaneous Monday

I won a Giveaway! Dianne at http://diadsie.wordpress.com/ had a drawing and I won. I couldn't wait for the package to arrive. It was like a birthday or Christmas. Here's a pic of what was inside. She sent some cute Fall pumpkins, a candle in a tin, salt water taffy, a Fall place mat, some really pretty floral prints and an adorable little elephant all decked out for Fall.

Thanks Dianne! It was a busy Sat. getting all the Fall decor down from storage. Here's a couple of pics of the "mess". I'll be posting some after pics in the near future.

I buy colored tubs to reflect the seasons so I know how to find things. There are 3 for Fall but I still have things in boxes (below).

We also got to see our little guy and his Mom (our daughter). It's always fun when he's around. He loves his Papa.

In a few short weeks his little sister is due to arrive and we can't wait to meet her.

A Guest Bedroom

It's been a busy week at our house. A family of 5 stayed with us, as they brought 2 sons down to college. I just finished washing and remaking the 4 bedrooms, ours included, and thought it would be a good time to post one of the rooms.

This is the room that most guests stay in when they visit. I try to have a spot that they can sit on and a luggage rack for their suitcase.

It's nice to have a lamp by the bed and some empty drawers for clothes, if possible.

This is another angle that shows the round table better.

A closer look at what is on the chest (flowers in a vase, tea pot , tea cup and a very small wedding pic of our daughter .A ceiling fan is a nice touch, if you have the hook up for one. This one came with a remote, you can see it on the wall above the light switch, that they can use from the bed if they wish. Like Shannon, at Bless our Nest, two of our beds are on risers. The skirts hang nicely with them but you may need a little stool, like the one below, to assist you in getting in for the night. In that room there is an alcove and I put a little antique desk and chair for them to write letters, notes, or pay bills. ( they usually don't stay that long, smile).

A small waste can is helpful, also.

Famous People

With the Republican Convention in Progress this week, I started thinking of all the good pro-life, family oriented people we have serving us in our government. We can surely use more of them.

My hubby and I have had the opportunity to meet quite a few of them. I thought I'd post some of their pictures, either with hubby or some with both of us.

This is Senator Jim DeMint and hubby. This was a few years back when Dan Quayle was campaigning for Senator DeMint. He had already served as Vice President to George Bush (41).

This is Senator Fred Thompson who spoke Tues. night at the convention. These pictures are when he was in the running as a candidate himself for the presidency. He has quite a sense of humor.

During a campaign stop in our town we just recently met with Senator John McCain. It was an honor to meet this war hero.

My husband put some hard questions to him and he was still kind enough to have his picture taken with us. (smile)
