We spent a few days this week outside cleaning up after the storm we had a week ago. It was one of those quick but furious storms that brought down trees, power lines, loss of power and made big messes of neighborhoods.
There is an old farm 1/4 mile down the road from us and they still had two old, big red barns. Notice I said did....one was flattened by a large oak tree. They just finished carting it away a couple of days ago.
We are so thankful that we only had minor damage. We trimmed, racked, and replaced a couple of plants. Had one big butterfly bush that was broken, but that's all. So happy to have everything back to normal.
I see this view every morning from our master bathroom window.
This gazebo is right outside my office window where I'm writing to you right now. I enjoy seeing the flowers trees and God's creation. A constant reminder of who is in control of it all.
I love being able to enjoy our neighbors Crepe Myrtle trees. So happy they planted them on our side. lol
These little fellows enjoy them, as well. We have several bird feeders right below the trees. Hubby caught three Doves on our bench, all at the same time, which is a rarity.
Ah, look, a fourth one just joined them. I think they're having a family reunion. lol
A few of our tomatoes took a bit of a beating but they still taste great!

Storms like this are so scary to me. In my previous home we watched as three or four huge oaks were uprooted, one went into the pool. This was several years ago. So thankful you had no more damage. Your view out the bath window is gorgeous, and those doves are just beautiful!
I am glad you did not get any damage from that storm. I am always scared of strong winds, afraid a tree would fall on our house cause we have so many tall ones surrounding the house and I see them swaying with the wind. You have a beautiful backyard, no wonder the doves love to have their family reunion there, lol...Christine
I remember those barns...oh that is sad. Did you have the bench when I was there?
Hi Rose, Wow you sure did have a bad storm. So glad you had little damage and are back to normal now and everything looks so gorgeous in your yard. Love the doves on the bench. That is rare all at the same time.
Loved your tablescape below too. Just divine on your new dining set.
Thank you for stopping by and your kind comment. We just got home from Santa Fe last week and had a marvelous time. Weather was so much cooler and gave us a break from all the heat here. We are now cooling down a bit and hope it lasts. LOL
Your header is so nice and glad to see you posting more again and feeling better.
See you soon. Have a great week.
Hugs to you dear friend,
Celestina Marie
Oh, so sad to see the barns go! Isn't it sad to think they lasted so long until now. You are so right though about we should always remember who is ultimately in control. On a brighter note your back yard is so pretty. Your neighbors crepe myrtles really are gorgeous right now too. I especially love your patio area. It's a wonderful looking space!
Hi Rose,
It's good to see you blogging once again. I had wondered about you and hoped everything was okay.
I'm so glad to know that you didn't have worse damage. It looks like you had quite a storm.
Your view is so pretty. The crepe myrtles are beautiful and how nice of those doves to pose for your blog.
That was quite the storm - glad to hear the damage was minimal for you. Sad to see that old barn go down though - it looked very cute. On the bright side, your yard looks absolutely amazing! Jane@Bluebird1959
So glad you had no real damage! Can be scary when storms are so powerful! A lot has been going on here. Read my blog and then please pray for my family. Thanks!
Glad that you and your home are ok! We had a severe storm that came thru earlier this summer and split our large, 15 year old, Bradford pear tree in half. Fortunately, it fell away from the house! We were sad to lose the tree; but we're thankful that it was not worse! Thanks for stopping by today!!
I'm glad you didn't suffer much damage at your house! So sad to see that gorgeous old barn flattened.
Your yard is so beautiful! That is some damage that the storm brought to your neighborhood. Glad things are coming together in the clean up. Some of our tomatoes don't look too well either, but like yours they taste delicious! Hope you're having a nice week!
Wow that storm must have been terrible! Your yard looks great now though. Glad you didn't have damage!
