Nation's Capital

I've been missing in action lately. This summer has been so busy!
We just got back from Washington, D.C. We had a convention to attend. I may post about that on another post. Met some very interesting speakers.

We did get in a little site seeing while we were there. We've been to D.C. many, many times and have seen a lot of the wonderful historic sites. I used to do two shows there each year when I was painting.
I thought I'd share a few pics with you.

I love going to the historical sites and walking where our forefathers have walked. This is one city rich in the history of our great country.

We had never been to the Washington National Cathedral before and it was on our list this time.

AMAZING piece of architecture. Sooooo huge!

I took this pic for those of you who do needle work. A local group of ladies stitched this kneeling cushions.

Lots of stained glass.

It took 70 some years to be completed. Funding was a factor.

We drove by Arlington.

The Naval Observatory

The access to the White House is more difficult than it used to be. That is such a shame, since it's the people's house. It is understandable though.

Years ago we took a tour of the White House. I don't know if they still allow those or not.

We took this shot from quite a distance in a moving car. Not so good!

I'll be posting more of the trip soon!

Hope you're having a good week!

OH, I'm sure you had a great time in D.C.! You've taken some great shots! We love D.C. too! We've tour the cathedral too and isn't it amazing? My sister in law lives in Maryland and she said the next time we come to visit we will attend a church service there! Cool.
Be a sweetie,

Hey Girlfriend,
So glad to hear you had a great time in D.C. I love your pics and have visited all those spots too. I simply love the National Cathedral.
We had a great time on our vacation too and I will be back in the studio tomorrow ready to create.
Thank you for stopping by. So great to see you. I know you are busy getting ready for Michigan company. Have a great time. Glad to hear you are a bit cooler. We sure need rain. It was 106 today and no end in sight.

I agree. We took tours of the White House as children and young adults. I've actually stood in the china room...never forgot it. Sad that I'll probably not be able to share the people's house with my grandsons. Thank you for sharing your trip to DC with us. Cherry Kay

That looks like it was a lovely trip. I love DC. It's sad that they have restricted access to the white house. Maybe one day that will change. Love the photos of the cathedral, haven't made that stop but certainly will next time. xo marlis
