I recently collected a few pieces of Candlewick depression glass dishes.
Candlewick was made by Imperial Glass. It was made from 1936 to 1984. It was made in crystal, blue, pink, yellow, black, red, cobalt blue, green and caramel. It was made both plain and etched. There were more pieces made in Candlewick than most people can count!! Seriously, there were hundreds and hundreds of different shapes. The banana bowl, snack set and punch set are some of the hardest pieces to find.
I set a simple Spring themed table in the kitchen using the Candlewick.
A bird's nest for the centerpiece.
Candlewick has a little pearl bead edging not to be confused by Boopie Glass made by Anchor Hoicking in the 50's.

Any crystal pieces go well with it.
This is the creamer and sugar bowl. Notice the creamer has a film. Does anyone know a way to clear up the film on the glass?

It is really pretty with the green Ro. Have you tried vinegar? If the glass is etched - like from putting in the dishwasher....I don't think it will come out.
Just think, I will get to see it all in real, real soon!!
I adore your candlewick - my aunt has an extensive collection and it's super dreamy. Very elegant.

Your candlewick table is so pretty!
I have seen those dishes at the flea market, but did not know that they were called that. Great table setting.
Absolutely lovely - what a special collection! and such a cute centerpiece:)
Gorgeous. I love the nest centerpiece and your dishes are so pretty. What a wonderful collection. Love the soft green, it just makes me think spring. Thanks for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty
I love your dishes! Great tablescape.
I love the Candlewick ... it goes with so many patterns ... I love it with polka dots! Thanks for sharing this beautiful post.
I have always loved candlewick dishes, but didn't know there were so many different colors. Your post was informative as well as pretty.
I like how you paired them with the spring green and the nest is the perfect touch.
Your Spring table set is absolutely gorgeous!! You always have the prettiest table displays you have such a talent for decorating. This South Carolina weather has been beautiful hasn't it? Thank you so much for visiting my blog and always leaving such nice comments. Hope you have a great week.:)
Blessings,
Dana
Oh you are trying to get into the spring mode, aren't you? I wish the weather would cooperate! Love your pretty candlewick pieces. I only have a couple of small items, but I do have several snack sets. I agree with Ceekay's assessment to try and clean them. I ran mine through a rinse cycle in the dishwasher with vinegar just to make sure any film came off. Are yours filmy or are they scratched? Good luck!

Your tablescape looks beautiful. Make me think of spring. I enjoyed visiting. I have used white vinegar, both in the dishwasher & just by hand. Another thing I've used is CLR in the dishwasher, but only with glass items & some of my stainless. We have bad water here and things get filmy & spotted from time to time.

As always Rose, your tablescapes are so beautiful. I have a few of the candlewick dishes.
Thanks for sharing.
Hugs, Sue
I love this! What a pretty table you've set! I have a set of candle holders like this and a little footed bowl thing! I do love the little beads around the edge. Is your crystal Park Lane? I got the Park Lane for my daughter when she got married.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I love Candlewick! I have my mother's collection and enjoy using it so much!
Your table is beautiful!

So beautiful!!!
Lovely dishes! Your cute nest centerpiece is so perfect for the colours in your tablescape and the spring-y look of it. Great shade of green throughout!

Oh, your pretty Candlewick looks wonderful against all the pale greens you used! I really like the napkin rings and the pattern of the napkins. Just lovely with that centerpiece!
So pretty! I just love all the green. It has such a fresh, spring feel to it.
I must say I only own one serving plate in the candlewick and it's one of my favorite dishes. I do like how you paired your set with the green. Looks so spring!
Beautiful table...love all the green!
Looks like you may have "dishwasher etching" caused by a combination of your particular water and detergent. Some say agents with phosphates are the worst. The mineral or chemicals actually do a fine grinding on the surface of the glass. If so it is permanent. That is why some crystal manufacturers and sales people say the same product is dishwasher safe while other say no.
The Candlewick is such a pleasing pattern. It works well with your other elements. I really like the green accents with the bird's net centerpiece. Thank you for sharing your charming design. Cherry Kay
For your answer to taking a film off glassware. Years ago as a teenager I worked in a restaurant. We used crushed ice, salt and tabasco sauce to get the hard water deposits out of the glass coffee pots. I believe this will also do the trick for your sugar and creamer set. Also vinegar is very good at removing stuff like this. Hope this helps!
Love your blog and your tablescape. Use white vinegar, both in your rinse. In addition, don't laugh, (I don't wear dentures) but the denture tablets work like you would not believe. I like to buy vintage crystal - it leaves it sparkling. Just dissolve a tablet in the water with your creamer(place the tablet in the creamer add water and let fizz away). Wash and dry like normal.
