I have not made this custard before but knowing it was a Paula Deen family favorite, I knew it would be good. Semi-sweet chocolate chips in a bowl. Always yummy!
Heavy whipping cream and milk in a kettle. Bring to a low boil. Pour over the chocolate.
Beat 4 egg yolks, salt and sugar together. Blend into the chocolate mixture.
Pour into six ramekins and place in a casserole dish. Fill with hot water till half way up the ramekins. Cover the pan with foil and make little pin holes all over to vent.
You can take a cup of heavy whipping cream and 5 Tbs. of butterscotch or--- I used caramel ice cream topping--and beat together with beaters till thickened.
The custard is not too rich or too heavy.
I forgot to take pic of the custard with the topping but you can see it on the magazine page above.
Thanks for stopping by today!

How simple, yet I bet decadent! I have dessert so infrequently these days- but a splurge every now and then won't kill me, will it?
