Old Typewriter

On my last post I mentioned I had cleaned the bookshelves in my office. I posted a pic of them and my friend Ceekay @ Thinkin' of Home nearly had a fit that my old typewriter was sitting on the top of them for no one to see. She informed me I needed to move it right away so I and others could view and enjoy it. lol

I did think she had a good idea and I moved it to an antique desk that sits at the top of the stairs between two guest bedrooms. I don't really know how old it is. I could not find a date on it. The ink cartridge is so dry of ink that it does not print anymore, so I typed a note on the computer and inserted it in the feeder. You can enlarge the pic, if you like.

A front view of the name Underwood.

A better pic of the note that I typed.

Be sure to visit other Show & Tells at Cindy's of My Romantic Home .

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend!

We had Underwood manual typewriters in high school typing class! Yes and a few electric IBMs,too! Yes, as I tell my kids, we DID have electricity back then:)

Your typewriter looks great there and I like the message!

Oh how I remember those old typewriters.. I learned to type on them in High School.. but oh how much easier it is with electric ones and even more on computers..
but it brought back good memories of my High School days... long, long ago..

I learned how to type in high school on something like that. I remember when I made a typing error, I had to erase it on multiple copies that had carbon paper in between them. I'm thankful for computers. Rosie

Ink cartridge or a ribbon? It is probably a ribbon, and you may be able to get a replacement. My father use to use one of the old Underwood typewriters (looked older than yours) in his business - my Brother has it now.
You have a treasure!
Thanks for sharing.

I love old typewriters! I wish I had one, I'd still use it! I think they are great. I love how you made a nice vignette with the typewriter.

Love the typewriter. Reminds me of my grandfather's that I have. I don't know about yours, but mine weighs a ton!

Love antiques...and old typewriters do bring back memories. In my college days, I had an electric one that was quite noisy and hated using the whiteout every few minutes. Ugh! I do enjoy the modern convenience of computers. (:

By all means that typewriter deserves it's place out front, I love this idea. And I really love your typewriter, what a treasure.
I think I used to have one similar to this somewhere in one of these barns.
Have a great weekend, I don't know about you but we just need a boat to get around here.lol

That is such a beautiful typewriter! Your link on Show and Tell wasn't working correctly but I was able to fix it. I wish I would have been able to fix it earlier in the day but I was at work.

Oops, I just realized you had added a corrected link below the other one on mcklinky. I'll delete one for you.

I can't imagine what life today would be like if we had to use a typewriter! My mum used to type school assignments for me on her typewriter but I bet she is glad she has her computer now!

Thanks for sharing these great pictures and thanks also for visiting my blog. It is so nice to "meet" you!

Best wishes, Natasha.

I'm excited to be able to do Show and Tell again now that I don't have to be private - now if I can think of something to show!

Great idea, looks great! Love the note!

I used to type on a manual typewriter years ago, before computers! Not half as much fun as computers!!
